Disastrous wildfires, like those in Los Angeles and Lahaina, have shown how quickly flames can spread when homes are surrounded by flammable materials. You have the power to protect your home and your neighbors’ homes, by clearing potential ignition sources within 5 feet of your property (Zone 0) and removing hazardous vegetation. |
Here’s a checklist of the types of things to look for: Clear and trim seasonal vegetation on your property such as: ▢ Dry grasses and weeds ▢ Dead trees and shrubs ▢ Leaf litter, twigs and other debris ▢ Ladder fuels and ensure vegetation has adequate spacing ▢ Vegetation inhibiting safe evacuation or emergency vehicle response Remove combustible materials within 5 feet of structures and attached decks.
